When we first saw Janna I was overwhelmed with the array of problems my 7 years old son had. I braced myself for session after session of speech therapy. But just within a year I was pleasantly surprised with the results. What never ceased to amaze me was that Janna managed to turn what could be a boring and sometimes frustrating processes for a child, into a pleasant and fun one. My son was always looking forward to it. And we still use Janna's handouts when my son has little relapses from time to time.

Janna Adler was my speech and language pathologist for approximately three years and under this time I have learnt the skills to be fluent in my speech. I stutter and due to her guidance, I have learnt several techniques to help me prevent a stutter or release it, such as easy onsets, light contacts, stretching and releasing the tension. One of the most important aspects of stuttering is that it intensifies under pressure or in unfamiliar situations. Therefore, we would make phone calls or visit different places to put me in situations to use these strategies to maintain fluency outside our appointments. I believe that I have the tools to be fluent and Janna’s support and teachings have definitely helped me to accomplish this. |

Janna provided speech therapy to correct my daughter's articulation difficulty over the course of a year. Her warm and empathic nature created a supportive environment where my daughter felt comfortable and safe when working on difficult sounds. Janna always engaged her in creative activities and games that targeted our speech and language goals while making it fun and motivating. Through her expertise and encouragement, my daughter was able to learn and apply the strategies that Janna taught her to fully correct her articulation needs. My son received speech therapy in his school from Janna over a couple of years. It was difficult for him because he was older and was not really motivated to work on his speech. Janna found the right tools and motivators to help him work in therapy and she was instrumental in significantly improving his speech. I am also a speech-language pathologist and constantly refer friends' children to Janna for therapy. My 5 year old daughter stuttered and within weeks of working with Janna she had the stuttering under control and my daughter was no longer afraid to speak. I would 100% recommend Janna to anybody that needs speech therapy. My son was put on a waiting list to be seen for therapy at his school but the wait is long, and before our name even came up Janna had helped my son to correct his speech. When we started, he was completely unable to say his "r" properly. Each week when we saw Janna she had new games for him, and she used many different strategies that engaged and helped him to fix his speech. My son truly looked forward to each session with Janna and he is now very proud of himself for being able to speak clearly. I have begun to bring my other son to Janna for speech therapy and I am certain that we will soon see the same results.

I have had the unique experience of working with Janna in both personal and professional capacities. I am a mother of a child with articulation difficulties and a child psychologist who refers children for speech and language assessments/therapy. Along with an extremely deep theoretical understanding, Janna is a very flexible therapist who uses a variety of tools and methods to help children progress in their speech and language work. She uses a "gamey" approach to teaching children and is also genuinely warm and empathic. My son stutters, and he was 7 years old when he first met Janna. He had problems communicating with his peers as he used to get stuck quite often. Through working with Janna Adler, my son Tyler gained confidence in his ability to talk to people. He did not understand why people kept saying “pardon me” or why they needed a clearer understanding of the words he was saying. Tyler’s doctor felt his speech would improve with age but his teachers felt a speech therapist should be consulted. Tyler felt very comfortable with Janna’s happy and calm personality. He liked the positive manner in which she worked with him and he got involved with her lessons. I was glad I could go to the speech sessions because this would help me to assist him when we practiced at home. Tyler was very excited about the different cards and games and activities Janna used to help him pronounce different sounds and different blends in different words. The year he worked with Janna made all the difference in Tyler’s speech. He socializes at school freely now because he is not embarrassed about not being understood.

Our daughter, who has William’s Syndrome, was testing at a moderate to severe level of delay in both expressive and receptive speech when she began therapy with Janna. Janna worked with her patiently, at first on one sound at a time, progressing to words and then sentences in a systematic manner. Thanks to all of Janna's hard work and dedication, our daughter now does not stop talking, and is testing within the normal range for her age in all areas of speech.
